Physical Benevolence

Any non-profit that is putting themselves in a position to really help people has to have a system. This is a summary of what we can do and the process you can expect. We do not hand out cash nor are we equipped to handle emergencies. The police and/or hospitals are where immediate emergency help can be found. Anyone planning to grab instant one time help with no accountability should reconsider us as an option. We are here to help those working towards getting through hard times and are willing to walk with you. But we expect individuals to be ready to do the work needed to improve their own lives as well. We try to work within a 10 mile radius of our building. Those in need are always encouraged to reach out locally first.

Tuesday mornings are set aside to meet with people who are willing to sit down to work on a long-term plan to improve their lives. We will do this with partnering ministries that are listed below. We will be asking some personal questions. Know when we point you somewhere, it’s the same places our own staff and members lean on for help.
Getting Started: CLICK HERE to schedule a time with one of our ministers.

UCOM: UCOM stands for United Community Outreach Ministry. This is our local food pantry that help assist with foods donated from local grocery chains in the Jacksonville area. They are also connected to a network or resources that want to help those who are trying to get back on their feet. Contact UCOM at (904) 396-2401.

CHARMS: Community Homes And Restoration Management Services, or CHARMS is a nonprofit that help offer discounted housing for the homeless. Our congregation leans on ministries that try to help individuals find additional steady income so they can get off the street and begin a journey towards living independently. Charms is part of our tool kit.

JaxCareConnect: This program is a joint collaboration created by the local nonprofit safety net of free and charitable clinics to assist uninsured adult residents of Duval County, helping them find a primary care medical home.

Vocational Rehabilitation: This is a government program that is designed and funded to help people with disabilities find work. They specialize in working around individuals’ limitations in order to maximize the chance of pairing people with work. The VR works throughout Florida in different zones.

VOA: Volunteers of America have provided safe shelter for nearly 20,000 seniors, veterans, and families in need in 2023. Our local housing branch is located at 1800 Danese Ct, Jacksonville, FL 32207. This is one partner we reach out to concerning homeless needs for Veterans. For a local contact number call (904) 399-8335.

Feeding NE Florida: Food Sources for Northeast Florida (Please remember, food banks and non-profits work in areas or a zip code. The larger Jacksonville area is close to a two million in population, so each works their own area. This is an attempt to keep people from abusing local resource systems.

Sulzbacher: The Sulzbacher center is in downtown Jacksonville, FL. This is a hub of information if you take some time to investigate the whole of their program. Larger programs are harder to navigate, but some great upfront benefits include public showers, internet, and storage units. In order to get a job or even benefits, one must have an address. If nothing else, Sulzbacher can help you with postal needs and provide an address that enables you to take a very important first step.
