Study Groups

Sunday Morning (9:30-10:15 a.m.)

Book of Matthew

Room 115 - Harold Adams, Ron Washburn

This study of the Book of Matthew will walk with Jesus from His birth to crucifixion. A verse-by-verse presentation for everyone, beginners and reviewers, of "the greatest story ever told".

Church on the Move

FLC Fellowship Room - David Swain, Derek Mountford

What: A uniquely-structured new Sunday morning bible study on the Church’s important role in our communities.

Who: All are welcome.

Where: We will meet in the FLC to allow the class participants to sit at tables, with each table serving as its own small group.

Why: The Church has a unique function in God’s Kingdom – it is designed to be a source of encouragement and support for its members while also a beacon of hope and love to the world. The purpose of this class is to unite these two fundamental roles of the church into one exciting new class.

The hope is two-fold:

  1. as a body, we bring older and younger members together to share life experiences, new ideas, and hopes for the future; and
  2. as we learn more about each other and our surrounding community, we introduce real plans and take real action to improve the lives of those outside of our walls that need the redeeming love and hope that comes only through Jesus Christ.

A group of facilitators will rotate through each week and provide a brief introduction for the week before splitting off to work with the various tables and generate open, honest discussion. Some Sunday mornings will be devoted to actual service in our communities and will not feature discussion time.

We hope you will join us!

College and Young Adults

FLC Room 204 - Bryce Pride

This class is all about learning the Word and putting it into PRACTICE. We are going through the entire bible - one book each week! Join us!

Hard Sayings of Jesus

Room 105 - Brian Kerr, Wade Taylor

Like his original hearers, many people today find Jesus' sayings hard. Some sayings are hard because they are difficult to understand, others because the demands they make on us are only too clear. The intent of this class is to study these hard sayings of Jesus to clear away the cultural and historical difficulties, which keep us from grappling with the real challenge of Jesus' message.

Preaching and Ministry throughout the New Testament

Chapel - Cornelius Mitchem

If you enjoy studying the Bible and engaging in Bible conversation this is the class for you. The class will introduce a new lesson each week that will focus on an in-depth examination of preaching and ministry throughout the New Testament. 2 Tim. 2:15

Promise Principle (Men's Group)

Rooms 109/111/112 - Ryan Whitaker

Are you ruled by thoughts and feelings?

Would your life be better if you chose how to respond to circumstances?

Simply put, the Promise Principles Study represents a group of men coming together to study God's Word in a deeper way with a focus on its meaning and application in our everyday lives. The basic foundation of the Promise Principles is that the word is providing us with Truths, Commandments and/or Promises. As we study the Word we seek to understand it. Was what I just read a Truth, Commandment or Promise? Discuss it. We will break out into smaller groups of 4 to 5 men reading scripture to seek a deeper understanding of God’s Word, and how we can put these Principles into action.

Study of David (Women's Group)

David Room 101 - Vivian Robarts

Explore the depths of God's love with this Beth Moore Bible study "Heart Like His", the study of the "man after God's own heart,"" David will make you laugh and cry. He will delight and disappoint you. You'll want to be just like him at times and nothing like him at others. David's life clearly demonstrates that God is always able to reach us, correct us, and reclaim our worship. If you've ever experienced doubts, temptations, losses, or personal inconsistencies, this study is for you.

Who is God? (Women's Group)

FLC Rooms 201/202 - Melissa Vincent

Led by various facilitators. We will be studying the characteristics of God by exploring various names He is given throughout the Bible and the stories be-hind the names. We will also be having small group breakouts to deepen our relationships with one another too! Bring a notebook and get ready to dive into God's word because He wants us to know Him!
